Help me smash this writer’s block with a sledgehammer.
August 23, 2006As I’m sure is no secret by now, I’ve been having writer’s block issues. In short, for the past few weeks I haven’t found anything stupid enough to make fun of, and nothing in particular has pissed me off enough to rant about it.
So that’s where you come in–I need ideas, I need topics, I need stupid people.

You could rant about school starting so freakin’ soon. That thought alone is enough to send me into delirium.

How about just no actively trying to write about something. Don’t force genius or inspiration where it obviously isn’t. Let the ideas come to you because they surely will. And don’t forget to read read read.
And @Kala, school is much much worse than the minor inconveniences that you’re probably afraid of.

Man I hate writer’s block. Unfortunately I’m experiencing a little of it, myself, as I attempt to write a coherent comment.
Ever tried writing prompts? I haven’t, but my friend swears by them. She especially liked the one where you had to write an opinion on something you don’t like, from the viewpoint of someone who does.

That’s trippy. I don’t know if I could do that (prompts). And writer’s block is an experiance I know well, and I can’t really give you any great advice. People watch. That’s always good. Sit in a crowded place (like anyone has time for this, I know), and just watch people go by, and eavesdrop when you can
. You will find some flaw in humanity to rant about, probably.

Write about “mall children”. There’s a good solid topic for ya.

Oh I LOVE people watching! People can be so funny.

Meaning you’re more productive and happy, no distractions. I would have thought that’s a good thing.
Or is it just me…

[…] Honestly, I’m really sorry about the lame post…But as Glen told me, “Don’t force genius or inspiration where it obviously isn’t.” […]

Rant about how annoying some computers take to load. I could go on for hours!
